View Full Version : Incomplete recognition of SSD
Just installed MTron MSD SATA3025, and it is recognized in the device manager, reports that it is working fine, but cannot be located in My Computer and does not seem to have a drive letter. I am working under Windows XP Pro with all the updates. I am unable to turn off AHCI and still boot. Overall performance is definately suffering. I use a ABIT Fatal1tyAA8XE motherboard. Other devices on SATA terminals work, but maybe slower.
I'm open to theories and suggestions felt to work.

The drive is fine. The SSD behaves just like any other bootable drive (hard disk). That means in Windows, you must partition it. Open the RUN bar and type "diskmgmt.msc". If there is a popup for initializing a new disk, I just cancel it. Find the unpartitioned drive (You will see a drive of approx 30 - 32GB). Right click the left area and select "initialize." When that is complete, right-click the right area of that section and select "new partition." Select primary partition, and continue through the process, including formatting. You might find a graphical set of instructions by Googling "How to set up new hard drive in Windows" or something to that effect.
Works like a dream. Would recommend with voice recognition software. Thank you for your help.
